어원에 대한 공부와 단어 확장

 

1. par

Par는 동등한의 의미를 뜻하는 라틴어입니다.

 

파생단어

Parity – 동등(par)함(-ity) 즉 동등함

Disparity – 동등(par) 하지않음(dis-) 즉 다름, 차이

Disparate – 완전히 다른

Disparage – 동등(par) 하게 보지않음(dis-) 즉 낮게 평가하다 얕보다

Disparagement – 얕봄, 경멸

Disparaging – 얕보는, 경멸하는

Compare – 함께(com-) 동등성을(par) 따져보자 즉 비교하다

Comparable – 비교할 만한

Comparative – 상대적인

Pair – 동등한(par) 한짝 즉 짝, 켤레

Peer – 연력, 지위, 계급, 능력에서 동등(par) 한 사람 즉 동료

 

2. aequus

Aequus는 동등한, 같은의 의미를 뜻하는 라틴어입니다.

 

파생단어

Equivocate – 양쪽 사안에 대해서 동등햔(equi) 목소리를(vocis) 내다 즉 애매하게 말하다

Equivocal – (고의로) 애매한, 불확실한

Unequivocal – 확실한, 뚜렷한

Equivocation – 애매하게 말하기

 

3. ambi-

Ambi-는 양방향성을 뜻하는 어근입니다. 이미 앞에서 한번 보신적이 있습니다.

 

파생단어

Ambiguous – 양쪽(ambi)의 의미를 갖는 즉 모호한

Ambiguity – 모호함

Ambiguous는 의도치않게 라는 의미가 더 강합니다.
